RN - Eastern Region Float Pool - Weekend Days

Overview As a full‑time registered nurse working weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.) in the Resource Pool at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital (CFMH) and Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (CRBH), you will provide consistent, high‑quality care to patients of all ages in Med/Surg and ICU units. Your objectives include delivering excellent patient and customer service, preserving dignity, kindness, and empathy, and acting as a patient advocate throughout the care continuum. Key Responsibilities Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes. Completes age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments and documents findings for the plan of care. Collaborates with healthcare team members, patients, and families to develop, implement, and revise interdisciplinary care plans. Accurately administers treatments and medications using EPIC and other electronic medical record systems. Identifies and addresses patient/family educational needs, documenting interventions. Contributes to performance‑improvement activities and serves as a role model for clinical practice. Uses critical thinking and delegation to deliver quality patient care under rapidly changing circumstances. Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, and resource consumption while improving patient outcomes. Delegates care, mentors new employees, and participates in orientation activities. Provides clear feedback to staff, participates in unit, hospital, or system activities, and contributes to decision‑making processes. Assists in educational activities within the unit or department. Manages resources, establishes priorities, and modifies the environment to meet patient care needs. Completes managerial or director‑designated projects within specified timelines. Applies problem‑solving methods to resolve patient and personnel situations. Qualifications Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college or an approved program eligible for the VA licensure exam. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. AHA BLS‑HCP certification required; additional certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP) may be required based on specific unit. Proficient with EPIC or other electronic medical record computer systems.
