Staff Platform Engineer, AI Systems

Strike

Role Description

We are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer (AI Systems) to join our Core Team. Strike is already a high-velocity, cloud-native engineering organization. We run an immutable infrastructure on GKE, enforce "Shift-Left" security, and deploy constantly. We are fully integrating frontier AI capabilities directly into our ecosystem.

This is a Systems Engineering role. You will be building the secure connective tissue that allows agentic systems to interact with our real-world infrastructure. You will define how agents authenticate, access tools, and when they should be trusted.

Who this is NOT: This is NOT a Data Science or MLOps role. We are not looking for someone to train custom models in PyTorch or manage Kubeflow clusters. We are looking for a systems builder to create the agentic harness and tools that empower our team.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the Vision: Blend your ability to execute with your ability to strategize. Translate insights into a vision and influence organizational alignment on overall AI strategy.
  • Build the Internal AI Platform: Build the unified, secure layer that connects tools like Copilot Agents, Gemini, Claude, Agentic CLIs, n8n workflows, and local agent runtimes to our core platforms.
  • Create IDE Agents: Fine-tune and deploy IDE agents that accelerate coding for the entire engineering organization.
  • Develop Agentic Workflows: Create orchestration layers and secure runtime environments for LLM tool-use.
  • Bridge Information Silos: Build out the enterprise knowledge base to connect disparate data sources for agentic reasoning.
  • Define Tiered Autonomy: Design security patterns for different levels of agent independence and implement mechanisms for safety.
  • Secure the Frontier: Design auth patterns for agentic access, solving problems around authentication, authorization, and safeguards.
  • Pragmatic Building: Help teams identify "Units of Toil" and target them with the right level of abstraction.
  • Force Multiply the Team: Embed with teams to unblock workflows and help optimize setups and adopt "AI Native" workflows.

Qualifications

  • Full Stack Systems DNA: A polyglot engineer with understanding of the entire stack.
  • Frontier AI Proficiency: Fluent in AI enablement and familiar with various implementation patterns.
  • Security-First Mindset: Understanding of risks in deploying LLMs in production environments.
  • Organizational Influence: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Pragmatism: Treat AI as a component, focused on measurable utility.
  • Ownership: Desire to take ownership of your domain and operate autonomously.

Requirements

  • Infrastructure: Fully Cloud-Native on GCP, Infrastructure as Code.
  • Orchestration: Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) with Helm & ArgoCD.
  • Languages: C#/.NET (Core Services), Python (Data/Scripts), TypeScript (Web).
  • Security: Comprehensive enterprise secrets management and governance tooling.
  • AI Stack: Flexible and ready for change with a mixture of tools and models.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $206K - $232K for US-based positions.
  • Equity in a high-growth startup.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance premium contributions; short & long-term disability insurance and basic life insurance.
  • Cell phone and internet reimbursement.
  • Flexible PTO, sick leave & parental leave.
  • Access to a company 401k plan.
  • No trading fees when you buy and sell bitcoin on Strike.
