Provider Assistant

As a provider assistant at HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater, you are responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinical setting that include documentation of medical information, administration of medications/vaccinations and treatments, as well as obtaining medical histories, vital signs, etc. The provider assistant assists the healthcare providers in the timely delivery of services per physician/RN direction and according to Clinic policies and procedures. All programs and activities are designed to support the short- and long-term mission, vision, goals, and objectives of HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater.

Responsibilities:

• Interview patients and document basic medical history
• Take vital signs and document findings in the patient record
• Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
• Administer immunizations
• Monitor messages and relay clinician responses via phone calls
• Enter orders for laboratory services

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with or without certification (AAMA or AMT) OR
• Current LPN (MN and WI license required) OR
• Graduate of an accredited EMT program plus current EMT license (national and Minnesota)
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program and current Nursing Assistant Certification in Minnesota OR
• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years customer service experience and/or healthcare experience
• Complete Medical Terminology and Pharmacology online courses within six months of hire

PLUS current CPR certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year medial assistant or LPN experience in a clinic.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record software.

All candidates should have excellent verbal and written skills; excellent customer services skills; tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients, families, and care team members; an ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in all interactions; understanding of patient education needs, able to effectively share information with patient, family members and care team members as needed; ability to learn, retain information regarding patient care procedures; ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks; ability to remain calm in stressful situation; experience with Epic preferred.
