The Director, Strategic Public Relations is responsible for executing proactive, high-impact public relations strategies that advance BD's innovation story as the world's premier pure-play medical technology company. This role focuses on product, technology and innovation communications across BD's high-growth market opportunities within the Medical Essentials, Interventional and BioPharma Systems segments. The position plays a critical role in shaping perception of BD across its key stakeholders.

Responsibilities?

• Lead execution of proactive public relations strategies that elevate BD's product innovation, technology?leadership?and growth priorities.?

• Drive earned-media storytelling for product launches, regulatory milestones, customer?wins?and strategic partnerships?across priority business segments.?

• Translate complex medical technologies and clinical applications into clear, compelling narratives for business,?healthcare?and trade media.?

• Develop and?maintain?strong relationships with top-tier national, healthcare,?technology?and trade reporters.?

• Prepare senior leaders with messaging, briefing materials and media coaching.?

• Identify?media trends and white-space opportunities that reinforce BD's leadership in?the medical technology industry?

• Collaborate closely with social,?digital?and content leaders to ensure earned media is amplified through?social,?owned?and paid channels.?

• Partner with segment, business?unit?and marketing teams to align messaging,?timing?and narrative consistency.?

• Provide issues and crisis communications support as needed, in coordination with PR leadership.?

• Manage external agencies and partners to ensure high-quality execution and accountability.?

• Serve as an active member of the PR leadership team?that creates an environment in which communicators can thrive in their current roles and grow in their future careers?

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations,?communications?or?a related?field.?

• Extensive experience in public relations or strategic communications, with a strong emphasis on?media relations,?product?PR,?and innovation storytelling.?

• Demonstrated success executing proactive earned-media strategies for complex products or technologies.?

• Experience working in healthcare, medical technology, life?sciences?or other highly regulated industries.?

• Ability to distill technical or clinical concepts into clear, media-relevant messaging.?

• Experience supporting issues and crisis communications with sound judgment and message discipline.?

• Exceptional writing,?editing?and storytelling skills; deep familiarity with AP Style.?

• Strong strategic thinking skills paired with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.?

• Collaborative leadership style with experience partnering across functions and with senior executives.?

• Understands?how earned media integrates with owned,?social?and paid channels to drive impact.?

Our salary or hourly rate ranges reward associates fairly and competitively. We regularly review these ranges and factors, such as location, contribute to the range displayed.

Our pay is based on the role and the necessary skills and education to perform it successfully. The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.

Salary Range Information

$169,700.00 - $305,700.00 USD Annual
