Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Hospice unit position requiring 2 years of hospice/geriatric nursing experience and an active VA or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospice unit within a home health/hospice setting, covering the Arlington VA territory
- Geriatric patient population receiving end-of-life and palliative care
- Average caseload of 5-7 patients per day
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Weekend coverage required as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Netsmart charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Hospice and geriatric nursing experience required
- Experience with end-of-life care, pain management, and symptom assessment preferred
- Phlebotomy and IV management skills, including central lines and ports, preferred
- Knowledge of ethical and legal issues in hospice care (advanced directives, palliative sedation, organ donation) preferred
- Experience with patient/family education, goal setting, and Medicare regulations preferred
- THC drug screening required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive hospice nursing care including symptom management, pain control, and end-of-life support
- Responsibilities may include bereavement planning, death pronouncement, and postmortem care
- Scrubs of any color permitted as dress code
- Mileage reimbursement provided at $0.58 per mile for territory travel
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks or during orientation
- No call-ins permitted
- Orientation includes 16 hours of virtual training modules completed over two days
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
