Position Overview

ABH Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Cutting & Fabrication Technician to support the production of high-quality laser-cut components for standard and custom products. This hands-on role is responsible for operating laser cutting equipment, programming machines, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring all fabricated parts meet quality and customer specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and committed to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities

Laser Cutting Operations

• Set up, program, operate, and maintain laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality components.
• Manufacture a variety of products, including:
• • Edge Guards
  • Flat Goods
  • Custom Strikes
  • Custom Projects
  • Stainless Steel Hinge Backup Components
• Optimize machine programming and nesting to maximize material utilization and production efficiency.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and communicate equipment issues to leadership as needed.

Fabrication & Quality

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
• Verify finished parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and other inspection tools.
• Inspect materials and completed products for defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Maintain accurate production documentation and report production or quality concerns promptly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.

Production & Cross-Functional Support

• Assist with fabrication, material handling, and other production activities as business needs require.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Provide flexible support across manufacturing operations to ensure production continuity during changing workloads.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience operating CNC laser cutting systems, including high-powered laser equipment (1 kW–12 kW preferred).
• Proficiency in laser programming, machine setup, nesting software, and production optimization.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, material properties, cutting parameters, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills for machine programming, production reporting, and work order management.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training in manufacturing, machining, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating laser cutting equipment or performing sheet metal fabrication in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CNC programming, nesting software, and precision measuring instruments is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• Frequently lift, move, and position materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate laser cutting equipment and other manufacturing machinery.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.

Schedule

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with overtime as required.
