Production Technician

Position: Production Technician Location: San Diego, CA Duration: 5+ Months Contract Hours: 40 hours per week Shift: 1st shift 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (weekend potential) Work site: 10865 Road to the Cure, Ste 200, San Diego, 92121 Requirements: Ensure candidate has some experience in bio/chem/pharma/biotech lab. Must wear long pants and closed‑toed shoes. Job Summary This position is responsible for the manufacture of materials used for medical diagnostic test devices. The candidate will operate and maintain reel‑to‑reel web handling platforms to treat membranes with antibody solutions, which are later processed to create lateral flow devices. Basic computer and analytical skills are required. The role is fast‑paced and team oriented. Duties and Responsibilities Learn and understand basic reel‑to‑reel processes, SOPs, work instructions, forms, etc. Execute processes according to written SOPs; record data in batch records. Load and unload treated and untreated membrane reels. Handle antibody solutions. Set up and configure machinery. Monitor ongoing production runs. Troubleshoot production issues. Meet daily/weekly departmental production objectives efficiently. Follow general and detailed instructions on routine and new tasks. Support LDMS and daily shift startup meetings. Lift 20‑30 pounds unassisted. Follow department guidelines and procedures. Adhere to BD Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies; report hazards; recommend safety improvements. Perform other duties as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks. Self‑motivated; able to work with minimal supervision. Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient learner of new tasks and methods. Attention to detail. Education and Experience Minimum requirements: Associate degree and/or relevant technical training. Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking). Fundamental computer skills. Basic math calculation skills. One year of relevant experience required. Stable employment and/or education within last 3–5 years.
