Registered Dental Assistant

Overview NaphCare is hiring a full-time Registered Dental Assistant to join our team of medical professionals in the San Diego County Jails in San Diego, CA. You must be able to travel to all sites within the county. Pay rate for this position ranges from $32.40 - $34.20/hour. As a Correctional Dental Assistant , you will work alongside correctional officers and other dental professionals to provide dental care to incarcerated individuals in residence. This is a position in a controlled environment where security is a top priority and you will perform a variety of duties that can be engaging and meaningful for a diverse patient population with complex medical and dental needs. Responsibilities Coordinating dental services and assisting the Dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation, and the function of the dental department Assisting the Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction, or suction Ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained and the dental suite is clean and well-stocked Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools Assisting in triage, dental sick call requests, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and performing other administrative tasks Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients Taking and developing x-rays and assisting with dental laboratory functions Qualifications Completion of a one- or two-year dental assistant program at a vocational school or community college Maintain proper training and unrestricted certification as a Dental Assistant High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Be able to obtain CPR certification Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Display integrity and professionalism; adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk long distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
