Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join a growing specialty construction company serving public and private sector clients throughout Texas.

This role is a key member of the preconstruction team, partnering closely with Sales, Project Management, and Construction to prepare accurate estimates, develop competitive proposals, and support projects from concept through award.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and experienced in commercial construction, site development, or outdoor commercial environments. You'll enjoy collaborating with architects, contractors, developers, municipalities, and owners to help bring unique projects to life.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual and hard-bid cost estimates for commercial construction and site development projects.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, bid packages, and construction documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam or comparable estimating software.
• Develop conceptual layouts and assist with preliminary design using AutoCAD.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
• Prepare accurate proposals and bid submissions within established deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, and Construction teams throughout the preconstruction process.
• Build relationships with architects, contractors, developers, municipalities, and owners throughout the estimating process.
• Participate in project site visits to verify existing conditions and assist with project layouts when needed.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Deliver responsive, professional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

• 2–5 years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience preparing estimates for commercial construction and site development projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Experience using Bluebeam or similar digital takeoff software.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and construction documents.
• Experience obtaining pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
• Design or drafting experience.
• Experience with public bids and negotiated commercial projects.
• Experience estimating parks, recreation, landscape, site amenities, or other outdoor commercial projects is highly preferred.
• Established relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, or manufacturers.
• Experience supporting conceptual design during the preconstruction phase.
