The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) brings together private-sector leaders from the business and philanthropic communities to support public safety initiatives that make Atlanta a safer city. These initiatives include community programs such as the @Promise Youth Initiative, Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, Atlanta Police Leadership Institute, Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta, the Connect Atlanta camera program, the Repeat Offender Commission, and the Secure Neighborhoods program. Since 2003, APF has provided vital strategic support to the Mayor, the Chief of Police, and the Atlanta Police Department in shaping the future direction of public safety. In 2015, Atlanta was named a model city by President Obama’s task force on 21st-century Policing—one of only 15 jurisdictions out of 18,000 reviewed to receive that status. Today, the Atlanta Police Foundation is the nation's number one public safety foundation. Our work is far from over. The APF is currently in a $100 million campaign to make Atlanta the safest large city in America by 2028.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a strategic and highly skilled Senior Events Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our comprehensive event strategy at the Atlanta Police Foundation. In this pivotal role, you will design, implement, and manage five events aligned with our mission, while delivering exceptional experiences for our audiences. The candidate must also possess excellent project management skills, including creating and using budgets, timelines, event schedules, and other tools to facilitate organized, well-run events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute a robust event strategy that aligns with the overall organization's objectives and enhances brand visibility. Develop and implement fundraising strategies for special events, meeting or exceeding event goals. Lead the planning and execution of high-impact corporate and donor events, including a golf tournament, gala, award ceremony, and campaign dinners. Oversee the event budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources while maximizing ROI on all events. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and communications, programs, and finance, to ensure seamless integration of event initiatives into broader company strategies. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and partners to enhance event offerings and drive collaboration. Utilize data analytics to assess event performance and gather insights for continuous improvement. Work closely with the Director of Corporate Development, keeping them informed of all activities related to Signature Events sponsorship and community outreach. Assist the CEO and the VP of Development with various tasks.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 5+ years of experience in event planning and management, with a proven track record of successful event execution and managing large-scale events. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic event plans that achieve organizational goals. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously under tight deadlines. Strong negotiation skills and experience working with vendors and contractors. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey professionalism and gratitude in written communications with stakeholders at all levels. Flexibility regarding working evening and weekend hours. Attention to detail, organization, and prioritization are crucial. The individual must adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment with shifting project priorities. Proficient in budget management. Preferred: Experience in a leadership role within a fast-paced organization. Familiarity with digital event platforms and virtual event formats. Proven ability to leverage AI and technology to enhance event experiences and streamline operations. Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies: Proficiency with event management tools (e.g., Eventbrite, Cvent) and donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce). Strong understanding of data analytics tools to measure event success. Computer proficiency, particularly MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, G Suite & Canva. Soft Skills and Cultural Fit: Creative problem solver with a proactive approach to challenges. Strong leadership skills with a passion for developing team capabilities. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and a results-oriented mindset. A genuine enthusiasm for events and the impact they can have on brand engagement.
