Science Composite Teacher

Job Description Starting Date: Aug 5, 2026 Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teach the District curriculum and actively participate in the curriculum alignment/development process. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from accredited university. Valid Texas teacher certificate or approved alternative certification. Special Knowledge/Skills: General knowledge of curriculum and instruction; knowledge of subjects assigned; ability to research and develop teaching units; ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience: Student teaching or approved internship. Position Type: Full‑time Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Strategies/Curriculum Expectations Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Align resources and teaching to the district curriculum. Actively participate in the district curriculum development process. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by federal regulations, the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Incorporate research‑based instructional strategies in the teaching of the curriculum. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students assigned. Ensure equal access to curriculum and equitable delivery to each student. Work cooperatively with other teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with special needs (i.e., Regular Education, Special Education, 504, Bilingual). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Student Growth and Development Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of school district. Classroom/Laboratory Management and Organization Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage students behavior in accordance with District Discipline Management Plan Code of Conduct and campus student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Communication Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers and support staff. Encourage parents to support student learning. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development Seek and actively participate in appropriate, ongoing professional development. Other Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise teacher aide(s), volunteer(s), and student teacher(s) as assigned. Equipment Used None. Working Conditions Be able to meet mental demands of teaching assignment (i.e., maintain emotional control under stress). Be able to meet physical demands of teaching assignment (i.e., frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing).
