HELP New Mexico's Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is designed to assist limited-income individuals on their journeys to achieve their educational and employment goals. This happens through an individualized array of supportive services and emergency assistance, so families will have their needs met while education and/or job training is ongoing.


Will consider candidates based in the following areas as well: Mora, Bernalillo, Sandoval, Dona Ana, Santa fe, Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, San Miguel.

Travel to the following counties: Mora, Bernalillo, Sandoval, Dona Ana, Santa fe, Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, San Miguel. Weekly travel expected to support staff in these areas.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

• You will provide overall support to the HELPNM Community Services Director related to the all-Community Services program services, deliverables, and requirements.
• You will recommend applicants for Community Support Advocates (CSA) during the selection process and training newly onboarding CSA.
• You will be responsible for conducting periodic training for CSA's.
• You will create and maintain databases for the program tracking tools, partnerships, training logs, and other data pertinent to capturing CSBG performance measures.
• You will schedule community events and engagements in partnership with other community agencies.
• You will evaluate the effectiveness of existing community services.
• You will plan, develop, recommend, and implement innovative community services.
• You will act as a key advisor to the Community Services Director on program design, service delivery models, and community engagement strategies.
• You will independently identify service gaps, analyze community needs data, and recommendsprogrammatic changes or enhancements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will directly supervise Community Support Advocates, including assigning work, setting performance expectations, monitoring outcomes, and providing ongoing coaching and corrective feedback. Conduct or leads performance evaluations and makes formal recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of Community Support Advocates. Has authority to adjust workloads, prioritize assignments, and approve schedules to meet program goals.

• You devote time to developing networks by building alliances within the community.
• You have the ability to plan, collaborate, and strategize partnership events with other community agencies, entrepreneurs, and businesses in providing services to vulnerable populations such as the homeless, low-income seniors, individuals and families, and other community needs.
• You have the ability to evaluate and address community needs by utilizing partnerships and CSBG funding.
• You can quickly respond, develop processes, and deploy CSA to community emergency needs.
• You can create and maintain tracking tools, databases, and reports.
• You have strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• You have strong interpersonal skills, are a problem solver, listen effectively, and provide constructive responses.
• You are able to participate in interviews and the selection process of CSA hiring.
• The ability to conduct training of CSAs.
• You have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites such as Outlook, One Drive, Teams, MS Word, MS Excel, and other helpful technology applications to carry on everyday responsibilities.
• You have knowledge of CSBG funding requirements, performance indicators, and the ability to research Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

• Associate degree from an accredited two-year junior college in Family Studies and two (2) years of progressive experience in employment and/or training programs, social services, and/or with the low-income population
• Bachelor's degree in social work, Public Administration, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in program administration, staff supervision, and community-based service delivery.
• Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/OR direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience

Other Requirements:

This position is accountable for achieving program outcomes and may be required to work beyond standard business hours to meet organizational objectives.


The position is evaluated based on results achieved rather than hours worked.
