Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies and records all outgoing shipments, prepares items for delivery, and ensures that orders are accurately packaged, labeled, and documented in accordance with company and customer requirements. This role supports efficient warehouse operations by handling materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and using warehouse systems and equipment to process shipments safely and effectively.
Responsibilities

• Verify and record information on outgoing shipments by comparing identifying details and quantities against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other shipping documents.
• Count, weigh, or measure items in outgoing shipments to confirm accuracy and compliance with shipping requirements.
• Prepare items for shipment by assembling wooden or cardboard containers or selecting appropriate preassembled containers.
• Insert items into containers and secure contents to prevent damage during transit.
• Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape or other securing materials as needed.
• Affix shipping labels to packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons, crates, and containers.
• Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers to ensure proper handling and delivery.
• Examine outgoing shipments to confirm that they meet specifications and quality standards before release.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload trucks, move materials, and stage shipments.
• Load and unload box trucks and other delivery vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient handling of materials.
• Support warehouse shipping operations by picking, order selecting, and assembling orders as required.
• Perform kitting activities by grouping and packaging components according to order specifications.
• Assist with inventory tracking and inventory control to maintain accurate stock levels and records.
• Use warehouse management systems (WMS), SAP, and Microsoft applications to enter data, track shipments, and update inventory records.
• Provide customer service support related to shipping and receiving activities, helping to resolve issues and ensure on-time delivery.
• Perform general labor and assembly tasks in support of production and logistics operations as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area in a loud production environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 2+ years of shipping and receiving experience.
• Experience with inventory tracking and/or stocking.
• Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including preparing, labeling, and documenting outgoing shipments.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Experience with loading and unloading trucks, including box trucks and other delivery vehicles.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and SAP for shipment and inventory processing.
• Basic Microsoft skills for data entry and documentation.
• Ability to perform accurate data entry for shipments, inventory records, and related documentation.
• Experience with inventory control and inventory tracking in a warehouse or production environment.
• Capability to perform general labor, assembly, picking, order selection, and kitting tasks.
• Strong attention to detail when counting, weighing, measuring, and verifying shipment contents.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a loud production environment while using required PPE.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in logistics, warehouse shipping, and shipping and receiving operations.
• Experience in loading, unloading, and handling materials using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Experience with kitting, picking, order selecting, and general warehouse support.
• Customer service experience related to shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.
• Comfort working with SAP, WMS, and Microsoft applications for inventory and shipment management.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and securing materials and containers.
• Familiarity with inventory control practices in a production or warehouse environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a production environment with multiple workstations and designated areas, where the noise level is usually very loud. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is supplied, and steel-toe footwear is required as part of the dress code. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work involves frequent use of material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, as well as regular loading and unloading of trucks and box trucks. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to procedures while supporting high-volume shipping and receiving operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethlehem, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $18.50/hr.
