Barbacks – House of Cards Barbacks support bartenders by handling stock and clerical tasks so bartenders can focus on craft beverages. They manage kegs, glassware, garnishes, and overall bar organization during busy shifts. A barback must be physically strong, an excellent multitasker, and adept at working in a fast‑paced environment. Job Duties Change kegs – lift full kegs, tap them correctly, and carry them from storage. Clean and restock glassware – wash, organize, and replenish glassware during the shift. Open and close tabs – reconcile customer tabs using point‑of‑sale software. Retrieve drinks for bartender – clear empty bottles and glasses, support bartenders during busy hours. Keep beer cooler and liquor shelf stocked – restock when inventory low. Prepare and restock garnishes – cut limes, lemons, oranges, and other garnishes safely. Alert bouncer of problematic customers – monitor crowd and report potential security concerns. Skills and Qualifications Manual dexterity – for changing kegs, fixing drain clogs, cleaning glassware. Basic mixology – knowledge of common drinks to aid bartenders during busy times. Social awareness – sense crowd vibe and flag trouble early. Teamwork – effective communication with bartenders and side staff. Prioritization skills – independently manage tasks based on urgency and importance.
