Equipment Operator The Equipment Operator reports to the Roads & Pads Foreman and is responsible for supporting daily planning and coordination of workloads while safely executing assigned projects. This role requires the skilled operation of a wide range of heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, snowblowers, dozers, skid steers, fuel trucks, super suckers, and tractor-trailer combinations. Key responsibilities include maintaining access roads and drill site pads, performing snow removal operations, and managing material handling and organization on site. The Equipment Operator must prioritize safety, efficiency, and proper equipment in order to take care in all tasks. This position may also require performing additional duties as needed to support business operations, including occasional roustabout work. A valid U.S.-issued, Alaska-compliant Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with both Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is required. Essential Duties Operate heavy equipment—including front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, snowblowers, dozers, skid steers, fuel trucks, super suckers, and tractor-trailer combinations—to support Roads and Pads operations and maintenance at Alpine. Perform load inspections and properly secure loads up to 125,000 lbs. Interpret load charts and determine safe load capacities for various configurations. Provide equipment support for facility operations, including maintenance, construction, and supply delivery. Assist with crane operations, including boom configuration, rigging, and signaling. Support drilling rig moves with equipment operation and logistics. Perform physical labor as needed, including installation of roadway delineators, culvert covers, snow poles, pit liners, and traffic control devices (signs, cones, barriers, etc.). Safely perform trenching and excavation activities; obtain OSHA certification as required. Use rotary lasers and site levels to establish and verify grade, including setting grade hubs and stakes. Complete and maintain accurate logs, records, and timecards. Conduct pre-operation inspections; monitor equipment performance; identify issues; submit maintenance requests; and clean equipment. Inspect, adjust, and perform minor repairs on equipment. Assist with inventory management of supplies, PPE, tools, and equipment. Successfully pass a written and practical equipment competency evaluation within seven (7) days of arrival at the job site. Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations. Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed. Required Experience Must be authorized to work in the U.S. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A valid (U.S issued, Alaska compliant) Class A CDL with both Tanker and Hazmat endorsements is required. A current DOT Medical Card is required. A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required. The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required. At least three (3) years of experience operating front-end loaders, motor graders, excavators, snowblowers, dozers, skid steers, fuel trucks, super suckers, and tractor-trailers as an Equipment Operator is required. Preferred Experience Three (3) or more years of experience operating front-end loaders, dozers, skid-steers, excavators, motor graders, and tractor-trailers as an Equipment Operator specifically in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in an Arctic environment is preferred. Working on the North Slope While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
