Perform investigations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and prepare accurate inspection reports with deficiencies and narratives to support regulatory findings. Meet with facility staff during entrance and exit conferences to discuss findings and corrective actions. Revisit facilities to verify correction of cited violations and perform quality assurance reviews of documents and reports. Coordinate with survey teams, provide technical assistance to facilities, and supervise team members as needed. Prepare testimony or provide information for hearings or court proceedings when required. Be available for on-call duties and emergency licensure actions, including travel and, if necessary, temporary shifts to support residents. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of issues, concerns, and needs of populations at risk in health care and institutional environments. Knowledge of nursing principles, professional standards of patient care, and regulatory requirements. Skill in interpersonal relations, quality assurance monitoring, and conducting program reviews or investigations. Skill in written, oral, and electronic communications; ability to write reports and use computer software for documentation. Ability to multi-task, analyze data, interpret regulatory policies, and work independently or as part of a team. Qualifications Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or a reciprocal state under the Nurse Licensure Compact. Must complete state and federal training to conduct surveys independently in the federal ICF program within the first 12 months of employment. Experience in a Long-term Care Regulatory program and in assessment and documentation of health status preferred; two years of RN experience is preferred. Additional Information Flexibility in work hours is required. Travel is 80% statewide, including overnight and weekend travel. On-call duties for emergencies may be required.
