Job Description
This float phlebotomist role focuses on performing venipuncture and blood collection procedures while supporting multiple locations within approximately 20-30 miles of Overland Park. The position requires flexibility to work at different sites each week, providing high-quality phlebotomy services wherever coverage is needed.
Responsibilities
This is a float position that requires regular travel to various clinical or laboratory sites within approximately 20-30 miles of Overland Park. Each week, you may work at a different location, supporting teams that need additional phlebotomy coverage. The work environment is clinical and patient-facing, with routine use of standard phlebotomy equipment and adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols. You will work in settings that prioritize patient care, accuracy, and professionalism, and you should be comfortable adapting to different team structures, workflows, and facility layouts.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Job Description

Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws safely, accurately, and efficiently in accordance with established procedures.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of all specimens to maintain accuracy and traceability.
- Prepare collection sites and equipment, including needles, tubes, and other phlebotomy supplies, to ensure safe and hygienic procedures.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff during blood collection.
- Float between assigned locations within a 20-30 mile radius of Overland Park, providing coverage and support as needed.
- Adapt to different clinical environments and workflows while maintaining consistent quality of care.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and staff to explain procedures and address questions or concerns.
- Handle specimens according to established guidelines to ensure integrity and timely processing.
- Document procedures and relevant information accurately in the appropriate systems or records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to support smooth clinic operations and patient flow.
- At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
- Proficiency in venipuncture and blood draw techniques.
- Ability to follow established phlebotomy protocols and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate patient identification and specimen labeling.
- Ability to work as a float phlebotomist and travel to different locations within 20-30 miles of Overland Park.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and workflows.
- Experience working in multiple clinical or laboratory settings.
- Familiarity with standard phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfort working independently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
