MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a Natural or Physical Science or Engineering; and Three or more years of experience directly related to environmental regulation, monitoring, inspection, sampling, analysis, stewardship, or similar environmental duties; and Two or more years of experience as a program/project manager, supervisor, or team leader. Or An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.IDEAL CANDIDATE
Must have at least three or more years of recent experience in an environmental laboratory conducting complex chemical analysis. Candidate will have multiple years of experience directly operating and maintaining the following instrumentation:- ICP/MS analyzing environmental samples for metal and mineral content.
- GC/QQQ analyzing air and sediment samples for PAH content.
- GC equipped with dual ECDs analyzing sediment samples for pesticide and PCB

• Specialized technical knowledge of a specific area of pollution control/analysis, and the ability to perform and/or supervise work in that area. • Extensive knowledge of environmental protection and pollution control issues. • Extensive knowledge of the processes, activities, requirements, and objectives of the functional area to which assigned. • Knowledge of laboratory analysis methods/procedures, environmental pollutants sampling/testing, and/or pollution control. • Considerable knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental control laws and regulations.- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below. • Manages activities, persons, resources, operations, and/or projects related to environmental control, clean up, regulation, outreach, or analysis. • Directs and coordinates activities concerned with the implementation of a project or continuation of a program. • Analyzes, reviews, formulates, and offers suggestions regarding policies and procedures to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and meet the organization’s goals and customer needs. • Validates all quality control checks, calibrations, and equipment certifications; Reviews environmental monitoring data for accuracy. • Samples or analyzes water taken from water bodies and tributaries to determine quality and habitat information. • May prepare or assist in the preparation of contract drafts, requests for proposal, and other related documents for review. • Evaluates resources, inventory, maintenance and personnel requirements; identifies needs and makes recommendations.- Monitors budgets, monitors status of allocated funds and controls expenses.
