Immediate Need

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a small, collaborative accounting team supporting a government/municipal organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can quickly contribute to month-end, year-end, audit preparation, and general ledger activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain general ledger accounting functions.
• Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and reconcile journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Support annual audit activities and gather required audit documentation.
• Assist with capital asset accounting, including tracking capital asset expenditures and related reporting.
• Analyze financial data and ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and internal controls.
• Collaborate with department leaders and finance team members on financial reporting and accounting initiatives.
• Provide support for special projects and process improvements as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level role.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, year-end close, and audit support.
• Capital asset accounting experience highly preferred.
• Government, city, county, municipal, or public sector accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with legacy accounting systems; experience with Springbrook is a plus but not required.
• System-savvy with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
