The team’s focus areas include developing business strategy for the Legal organization and operational alignment with larger Workday initiatives. The team leads ground-breaking efforts in process optimization, resourcing, and risk management, while enabling operational efficiencies in technology management and data harmonization. The GLS team also focuses on developing skills-based training for the organization and providing solutions through effective project management, strategic analytics, vendor management, and budget coordination.About the RoleThe Global Legal Services team is seeking a Director & Associate General Counsel to join our Center of Excellence. In this role, you will lead initiatives to transform how our legal department supports the business, streamlining service delivery to support our scale as a global cloud software leader. You will apply your expertise in commercial contracting and legal technology to design efficient, modern processes, directly impacting how our organization manages risk and supports strategic growth.Responsibilities include:Transform contracting models, workflows, and department processes to achieve optimal efficiency and scale, analyzing complexity, effort and risk Implement a modern contracting strategy for streamlined end to end contracting processes for customer, partner, inbound, and professional services Develop and maintain transactional infrastructure governance policies and processes and provide direction to the infrastructure transactional councilsServe as a trusted advisor to cross-functional leaders and advise on a range of complex legal, business and strategic issues Act as a champion for organizational change and deliver change management to executives, legal team, and cross-functional audiences About YouYou have a track record of leading large-scale transformation initiatives, using data-driven metrics to gauge success, and applying a “smart risk” framework to manage risk. As a change agent, you are adept at evolving how the legal department supports the business, driving cultural change, and integrating your legal acumen with modern technology. You will design innovative contracting models and leverage AI, CLM capabilities, and other automation tools to simplify, scale, and accelerate contracting for a $20 billion global company.Basic Qualifications:10+ years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house/public sector legal department5+ in house legal experience with a focus on commercial transactions (experience with professional services, partner programs and inbound/vendor contracting would be a plus) 5+ years experience in modern contract drafting, legal transformation initiatives and contact lifecycle management (CLM) concepts J.D. Degree and membership in at least 1 state bar Other Qualifications:Deep understanding of the commercial, vendor, partner, and strategic contracting model needs of a Fortune 500 cloud software providerSubstantial background in providing legal guidance to global entities on commercial contracting mattersExcellent contract drafting skillsExperience negotiating customer/sales contracts with large enterprise organizationsProven track record of advising cross-functional leaders within rapidly expanding organizationsAnalytical and methodological approach to problem-solving with keen attention to detail and pragmatic risk managementExperience working in an agile environment and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teamsAbility to identify and leverage workflow automation tools to streamline operations and improve business efficiencyAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong communication and listening skills to effectively gather requirements and maintain stakeholder relationshipsA strong interest in AI solutions and their application in data analysis, with a willingness to learn and contribute to model development and deploymentWorkday Pay Transparency StatementThe annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
