Job Title: Hospice AidePosition Scope:The Hospice Aide is responsible for performing and/or assisting the patient with personal care activities as prescribed on the Hospice Aide plan of care while working under the supervision of an RN.Essential Functions:Performs and/or assists the patient with personal care activities:- Bed bath, shower, or tub bath- Skin care- Back rub- Hair and nail care- Oral hygiene- Catheter careAssists the patient with the use of:- Bedpan- Bedside commode- Emptying a catheterAssists the patient into a wheelchair or assists the patient to walk if ableAssist the patient with range of motion exercises, turning and positioning a patient when orderedPerforms and/or assists the patient/family with light housekeeping in the area where patient care is providedReports patient status changes to the interdisciplinary team as neededMaintains current and accurate documentation Education and Work Experience:High School graduate, preferredProof of current nursing assistant certificationMinimum one (1) year experienceValid driver's license and automobile insurance, and reliable transportationCertification and Licenses:Licensure in West Virginia and OhioWork Environment and/or Physical Demands:The Hospice Aide sits, stands, bends, pushes and pulls, twist, stretches drives, and lifts intermittently throughout the day. The Hospice Aide must have sufficient strength to turn, lift, and assist patients. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and possession of a valid driver's license.
