System Engineer- Enterprise Data Engineer

OverviewIn this position, you will partner with customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements, design enterprise data management strategies, and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle. You will work both independently and as part of project teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities that support customer workflows utilizing ArcGIS web, desktop, and mobile applications.This team supports Defense and Intel clients. The Professional Services organization is comprised of nearly 1,000 talented business and technical professionals who strive every day to help our users be successful.Esri has a Relocation Assistance Program and can provide support with relocating to the Redlands, CA area for this position.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applicationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deploymentConfigure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategiesMonitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (such as query optimization, indexing strategies)Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environmentsAutomate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiencyProvide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projectsRequirements8+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANADemonstrated experience with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, database maintenance, and securityScripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflowsExperience with cloud-based database solutions (such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)Understanding of geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexingAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customersUS citizenship with Active or Current (within 2 years of active) Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibilityBachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, or related STEM fieldRecommended QualificationsExperience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabasesKnowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systemsCompTIA Security + certificationOne or more industry-standard IT certifications (such as Esri, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, Oracle)Master's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS or related STEM field#LI-SS2#LI-OnsiteTotal RewardsEsri’s competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
