education (K-12 and higher); justice and essential services; science and technology; state and local government; transportation; water and wastewater; energy; and commercial, residential and nonprofit markets.Job DescriptionEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Oversee the staff, projects, programs, and activities of the Landscape Unit, providingprofessional leadership, technical direction, and guidance in the planning, design, development,and implementation of landscape architecture and greening projectsProvide technical direction and professional oversight to consultant landscape architects andother design professionals engaged in District landscape architecture, greening, irrigation,grading, and related projectsServe as Landscape Architect of Record for District-designed projects and assume professionalresponsibility for the preparation, review, coordination, and certification of landscapearchitectural plans, specifications, and related technical documentsPlans, develops, and directs highly complex landscape architectural projects involvinglandscape design, site planning, greening, irrigation systems, grading, planting, hardscape, andrelated site improvementsPrepares and certifies plans, specifications, and other professional documents in accordancewith applicable laws, codes, standards, and District requirementsLeads the design and development of in-house landscape architecture, greening, and land-useplanning projects, applying professional judgment to establish design solutionsDirect and supervise the preparation, review, and coordination of landscape architecturaldrawings, specifications, construction documents, and design revisions for new landscapingand modifications to existing landscapesDirects and oversees the development, review, negotiation, and processing of Design ServiceProposals, scopes of work, and related documents for landscape architectural and greeningdesign servicesLeads coordination and community engagement related to landscape architectural andgreening projects with school principals, teachers, parent groups, nonprofit organizations, andother community stakeholders; evaluates input and incorporates appropriate requirements intoproject developmentReviews, negotiates, and approves task orders, scopes of work, proposals, and relatedconsultant documents for landscape architectural and related professional servicesPrepares and reviews cost estimates, evaluate materials and equipment, establish appropriateinstallation methods, and assess project delivery methodsConducts site visits and field investigations; evaluates existing site conditions, reviewsconstruction and installation progress, identifies design and technical issues, and providesprofessional direction to resolve issues affecting landscape and greening projectsReviews and approves technical documentation supporting grant applications for landscapearchitecture, greening, sustainability, and related projects;
