Project Manager - Traffic: Leading Innovation in Mobility Solutions

From our South Portland ME or Bedford NH offices, the Project Manager I – Traffic will lead some of the most impactful traffic engineering projects across New England and beyond. You’ll manage projects through their full lifecycle, from shaping proposals and negotiating contracts to delivering on HNTB’s 4-for-4 performance promise: quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. What You’ll Do: Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assist in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations. Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Lead the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor team to overall project objectives. Perform coordination with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; develop plans for project staff reporting; and support performance and compensation reviews. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini‑mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Work with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini‑mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community. May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge of traffic engineering and planning principles, including signal design, ITS, and traffic modeling. Familiarity with project management tools and processes to monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverables. A proven ability to lead and inspire collaboration across disciplines. Professional Engineer (PE) license and PTOE is a plus—but what matters most is your drive to lead and deliver. Location Bedford, NH; Burlington, VT; South Portland, ME (Portland) The approximate pay range for Vermont is $126,950.84 - $198,564.14.
