RN/GN Med Surg; PRN

Registered Nurse / Graduate NurseThe RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings. The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Manager/Director.Qualifications:Education: RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.Licensure/Certification: Must have valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required. ACLS Certification within one year of employment or, if a current employee, by December 31.Work Experience: Successful completion of hospital orientation.Responsibilities/Job Duties:Provide guidance and provide appropriate patient care to all ages and oversee LPN's and CNA's.Documentation of care in the EMR, that is accurate and detailed of the patient's care and conditions. This includes making sure care plan is appropriate.Monitor for changes in medical condition by assessments and notify physician if appropriate.Assist with procedures by physician's as needed.Perform nursing skills (IV starting, NG placements, dressing changes, wound care, catheter placement, etc.) and provide health care for hospitalized patient.Scan and administer medications to patients and monitor for side effects.Provide protection of medical record and maintain HIPAA compliance.Fill out incident reports as needed for actual events and near misses.Other duties as assigned.Required Staff Competencies:Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives.Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole.Works to resolve conflicts constructively and in a timely manner.Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker.Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts.Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals.Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties.Is customer focused and committed to Quality and Process Improvement with a strong desire to provide service excellence.Possesses and displays a strong knowledge and understanding of the standards of practice for their position including, if and when applicable, commensurate computer skills; population specific and general competencies; organizational skills, time and project management.Possesses a vigorous and enthusiastic desire to learn and to grow both personally and professionally, and to improve one's skills in order to deliver the best possible care for our customers.Working Conditions:Direct patient contact, possible exposure to infections, communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.Occasionally exposed to radiation and electromechanical hazards.Works indoors in well-lighted and ventilated environment.Handles emergency or crisis situations.Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.Subjected to frequent interruptions.Comply with ADA guidelines.
