Custodian PositionCustodianQualifications:Possess the physical ability to perform the essential job functionsBe skilled at cleaning and other custodial responsibilitiesListen to and follow directionsExhibit good communication skillsMaintain positive relationships and a professional appearanceUse basic office technology such as email, internet, and computersProvide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, develop, and playReports to: Building and Grounds DirectorPerformance Objectives:Keep building and premises neat and clean at all timesSweep classrooms daily and dust furnitureClean corridors each dayScrub, wash down, and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains dailyWash all windows on both the inside and outside as neededKeep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservationClean all whiteboards at least once a weekReport any damage to the school property to the Custodial LeadMove furniture and/or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Custodial LeadOrganize special function setups such as games, dances, etc., during the week and on weekendsWork modified schedule on weekends and when necessary to meet District events and facility schedules; must be approved by the Building and Grounds DirectorMake minor building repairs and report major repairs needed to the Lead CustodianComply with local laws/procedures for storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and wasteEnsure that all doors and windows are appropriately lockedMust be able to go up and down stairs frequently, as well as regular bending and standing as needed in a daily shiftAssist in major clean-up in summer, such as washing desks and chairs, washing down walls, stripping and waxing floors, etc.Pull weeds, keep grounds free of rubbish and in winter shovel snow from steps and sidewalks and apply ice melt when appropriateAttend meetings as scheduled by the Building and Grounds DirectorComplete requested paperwork, electronic forms, surveys, or training as requestedWill work closely with and support the Custodial Lead who is under the direct supervision of the Building and Grounds DirectorComply with federal, state, local, and Board of Education policies and regulationsOther duties as assigned by the Custodial Lead and/or Building and Grounds Director St. James School District R1
