Nurse Supervisor RN

Westland A Villa Center is seeking a Nurse Supervisor RN to join their team. The Nurse Supervisor RN provides leadership and oversight to nursing staff during non‑business hours, ensuring appropriate staffing, workflow, and quality patient care. The role acts as the highest on‑site authority after‑hours and makes timely decisions to resolve clinical challenges while maintaining care standards. Nurse Supervisor RN Duties And Responsibilities Provide oversight and leadership to all on‑duty nursing staff during non‑business hours. Ensure proper staffing levels, monitor workflow, and assist with prioritizing patient care tasks. Act as the highest‑ranking on‑site authority during after‑hours and weekends. Make timely decisions related to patient care, staffing, safety, and operations. Offer clinical expertise and support in resolving patient care challenges. Assist with complex cases or difficult family situations. Handle call‑ins or last‑minute staffing changes, ensuring coverage and continuity of care. Makes frequent rounds to monitor resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Give and receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Ensure assigned work area, resident/patient care rooms, and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Ensure medication rooms and medication carts are locked according to regulation. Monitor supplies and order as needed. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting. Develop and participate in programs designed for in‑service education, on‑the‑job training, and orientation classes for newly assigned personnel. Maintain close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services. Provide required resident assessments/observations and interventions, reviewing care plans to ensure appropriate care. Document all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards and policies. Ensure that direct nursing care is provided by a licensed nurse, a certified nursing assistant, and/or a nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure. Attend and participate in in‑service classes, performance improvement (“PI”) committees, continuing education in‑service programs and other meetings as assigned. All other duties, as assigned. Nurse Supervisor RN Skills and Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to multi‑task and remain calm under stress. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others. Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures. Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel. Possess a special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with short and long‑term care residents and the elderly. Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. Microsoft Office versions 1997, 2000 or XP, MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, E‑mail, Outlook, Internet Explorer. Nurse Supervisor RN Education and Experience Nursing degree or diploma from an accredited college or university. Possess a current license to practice in the state as a Registered Nurse. At least one year of supervisory experience preferred. Long‑Term care and MDS experience preferred. Physical Requirements Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required. Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required. Meet all health requirements as needed.
