Apply today and be part of our growth!Job DescriptionThe Financial Accounting Specialist is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates seeking to build a strong foundation in accounting and financial analysis. This position supports general ledger activities and assists with key accounting processes for specified areas of the Company's Retail business.The Financial Accounting Specialist will work closely with the accounting team to help ensure accurate financial reporting, participate in the month-end close process, and contribute to ongoing improvements in processes and controls. This role provides exposure to a wide range of accounting functions and an opportunity to develop technical and analytical skills within a fast-paced retail environment.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and close the general ledger each monthPrepare and analyze journal entries and accrualsPrepare monthly income statements and expense reportsPrepare detailed monthly reconciliations and account analysesCompile and analyze monthly financial results and prepare variance analyses as neededPartner with operating departments on close activities and analyze key drivers of resultsSupport process improvements and the development of best practicesCreate and update capitalization schedules for new leasesReview monthly rent payments and related chargesSupport monthly balance sheet reconciliationsFollow and help maintain documented procedures in compliance with SOX and GAAPSupport the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package for external annual auditsSupport the audit process by preparing requested schedules and working with external auditorsAssist with ad hoc assignments and special projectsSkills and KnowledgeAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities, Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of team, Results-oriented and proactive in resolving problems and overcoming obstacles, Strong analytical skills with close attention to detail, Strong written and verbal communication skillsQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance requiredCPA preferred; CPA exam candidates are a plusExperience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, is preferredRetail or wholesale experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipmentAble to clearly view and read information on a computer screenOccasionally lift or move items up to 15 poundsLocationOn-site in Lenexa, KSPay Range$50,000.00 - $60,000.00
