Behavioral health technician

A behavioral health technician provides frontline support to patients in mental health and substance-use treatment settings. Under the direction of clinicians, they monitor and supervise patients, lead or assist with daily routines and group activities, document behavior and progress, de-escalate crises, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment around the clock. The role is hands‑on and relational, often the staff patients interact with most, requiring patience, steadiness, and the ability to handle agitation or crisis calmly.
