The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of a Special Education Teacher - PreK JOB DESCRIPTION This is an itinerant position throughout the District and Community Candidates must hold a 282B Certification Reports to: Special Education Director Work Schedule: 180 day contract Salary: $45,000.00 - $79,539.70* (SY25/26) MSAD #17 offers a robust employee benefits package for full-time employees, including: health insurance with 80% of the premium paid by the employer (with up to 100% if both spouses work in the district); dental, vision, Group Life Insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts; Maine Public Employee Pension, 403(b) retirement plan eligibility; 15 paid sick days per year; and tuition reimbursement.
*In addition to the base salaries above, Special Education positions receive the following annual supplemental stipends:

- Day Treatment Teachers - $4,500
- Functional Life Skills Teachers - $4,400
- Social Skills Teachers - $3,400
- Resource Room Teachers - $2,000
- Social Workers - $4,450
- Applied Academics Teachers - $4,000

- Hold students to high expectations and provide adequate time and support to achieve them.
- Prepare students for success by helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Foster high aspirations and the skills of self-determination, self-control, and self-advocacy.
- Guide students to be curious learners and ethical leaders, able to adapt to changing times.
- Provide learning experiences in a safe, caring, and welcoming environment.
- Model a strong work ethic, perseverance and grit, as well as responsibility and respect;
- Utilize best practices for motivating today's students in a safe, supportive learning environment;
- Demonstrate knowledge in the development of real-world learning experiences and community partnerships to provide students with opportunities for extensions of learning, applied learning, community service, and citizenship;
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to collaborate, engage, and communicate with colleagues, parents and the public.
- Instilling problem-solving and critical thinking as a "new basics" for learning across all grade levels;
- Delivering strong literacy instruction across content areas;
- Helping student develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate the vast, ever-expanding amount of information;
- Employing effective lesson design by adjusting to students' personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
