Qualifications

Required:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma
• Active Registered Nurse license with three to five years of experience, including one to three years in the Mental Health field
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Proficient in computer skills

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current New Jersey Registered Nurse License
• New Jersey Driver’s License

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion within five years of hire
• National Certification is preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver psychiatric and medical services to adult clients within a supportive psychosocial environment
• Assist psychiatrists during medication clinics
• Administer medications both orally and through injections
• Schedule and document physical examinations and laboratory tests
• Conduct AIMES screenings, nursing assessments, intakes, and maintain a caseload along with all relevant clinical documentation
• Facilitate group sessions
• Engage in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives
• Report any identified safety concerns, such as hazardous conditions or medical errors
• Maintain knowledge of the patient population and adhere to ethical standards as outlined by the ANA Code of Ethics
• Ensure safety in practice while incorporating evidence-based principles
• Educate patients and their families about medications
• Assist in patient billing through accurate documentation of attendance and services
• Coordinate medical and nursing care for program clients
• Gather medical histories from clients entering the psychosocial rehabilitation program
• Complete nursing assessments and develop problem lists
• Participate actively in performance improvement projects
• Collect and analyze data to recommend improvements
• Develop and lead educational group sessions on medication and health
• Integrate psychosocial, physical, nutritional, and rehabilitation needs into patient care and discharge planning
• Uphold nursing care standards that are evidence-based and outcome-driven
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings
• Present treatment recommendations and progress updates
• Assist colleagues in interpreting medical information and physician orders
• Provide ongoing nursing services and supportive counseling to mental health consumers
• Schedule and follow up on physical exams for patients
• Update patient medical records and document progress in relation to treatment goals
