Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

This role involves working on a production line to assemble materials, operate machines, and prepare finished parts for shipment. You will inspect parts for quality, handle components safely, and rotate through different positions on the line based on your strengths and preferences. The position requires reliable attendance, attention to detail, and the ability to work overtime and rotating shifts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on the production line to assemble materials and components according to established procedures.

• Operate manufacturing machines safely and efficiently under the guidance of an experienced operator.

• Lift parts off the production line, perform visual inspection, and place them into boxes for shipment.

• Inspect parts before packaging to identify defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other imperfections.

• Assemble components and attach parts correctly before placing them in boxes.

• Rotate through different positions on the line and adapt to various tasks as needed.

• Handle and lift plastic and foam parts, including car hood components, and position them at the work station.

• Follow quality standards and safety procedures at all times, including the use of required personal protective equipment.

• Maintain consistent attendance and demonstrate longevity and reliability in the role.

• Work overtime as needed, including arriving early, staying late, and occasionally working Saturdays.

• Support other team members on the line and communicate effectively with operators overseeing the machines.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of recent manufacturing experience, currently in a manufacturing role or within the last 30 days.

• Recent work experience within the last 6 months in a production worker, operator, assembler, or warehouse position.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.

• Capability to lift and move plastic and foam car hood components, stacked approximately 5–6 high, to the work station.

• Proven visual inspection experience, including identifying defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other flaws on parts.

• Ability to provide examples of prior roles where you inspected parts and identified defects.

• Demonstrated job stability, with at least 8 months or longer at each of the past three jobs.

• Experience in general production, general labor, and assembly work in a manufacturing environment.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with repetitive tasks and rotating positions.

• Willingness and availability to work overtime, including extended shifts and some Saturdays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude or interest in mechanical tasks.

• Experience with machine operation in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Prior experience in plastic manufacturing or similar industrial settings.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from lead operators.

Work Environment

The role is based in a plastic manufacturing environment that can become hot during the summer months. You will work closely with another operator (OP1) while an OP3 oversees the machine, fostering a collaborative, team-oriented setting. Openings are available on 2nd shift (2:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (10:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.), and you must be able to work overtime as needed, including arriving up to four hours early, staying up to four hours after your shift, and occasionally working Saturdays. The facility is currently operating 12-hour shifts, which are mandatory for hourly employees when required. The dress code includes work pants, a work shirt, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses. For safety reasons, long fingernails are not permitted. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to production and quality standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roseville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.05 - $17.05/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
