Healthcare Data Analytics Intern

Our client, a healthcare services company, is seeking a Healthcare Data Analytics Intern to join its analytics team in Boston. The intern will support the team in analyzing clinical, operational, and financial data to help improve patient care delivery and organizational efficiency.

This is a hybrid internship with three days per week on-site in Boston. The intern will work alongside experienced analysts and data engineers, contributing to reporting projects, dashboard development, and ad hoc analyses requested by clinical and administrative leaders.

The internship is intended for students or recent graduates pursuing a career in data analytics, health informatics, public health, or a related field. Interns receive regular mentorship and the opportunity to present their findings to senior stakeholders at the end of the program.

Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and validate data from clinical and operational systems
• Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports using BI tools
• Write SQL queries to extract data for analysis and reporting requests
• Assist analysts with trend analysis on patient volumes, readmissions, and care quality metrics
• Document data sources, definitions, and methodologies for team reference
• Support data quality checks and flag discrepancies to senior team members
• Prepare summaries of findings for non-technical audiences
• Present a capstone analysis to the analytics team at the end of the internship

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's or master's program in data science, statistics, health informatics, public health, or a related field
• Working knowledge of SQL and Excel
• Familiarity with a BI tool such as Tableau or Power BI
• Exposure to Python or R for data analysis is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on-site in Boston three days per week
• Willingness to follow patient data privacy practices, including HIPAA training provided on the job
