The work location for this position is at one elementary school location in the metro Phoenix area and occasional meetings on the ASU Tempe campus.Disney Musicals in Schools is a free after-school program offered to a limited number of Title I elementary schools. Through the 17-week program, Disney Musicals in Schools Teaching Artist Aides guide school team of teachers through the process of producing a musical at their school using the Disney Musicals in Schools training model. The goal is to provide the training necessary for teachers and schools to be able to continue a theatre program for years to come. In early March, the DMIS schools perform on the ASU Gammage stage in the Student Share Celebration. Which afternoons might you anticipate being available: Mon – Thu from approximately 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. from September through early March?Primary DutiesFulfill mandatory on-boarding and annual ASU online training requirementsAttend 2-3 paid Teaching Artist Training and DMIS Orientation/Workshop sessionsAs a leader, collaborator and mentor, guide a 90-minute after school rehearsal for a Disney KIDS musical at an assigned metro Phoenix school once per week for 17 weeksAdequately prepare for each production meeting/rehearsal in accordance with DMIS expectations and appropriately adapt lessons to your assigned school’s needsSubmit weekly reports to the DMIS Program CoordinatorAttend scheduled meetings with the DMIS Program Manager and the Program CoordinatorAssist with assigned school’s final performances in February or March 2027Participate in Student Share showcase in late March 2027Mandatory DatesAttend All Day DMIS Orientation with Title 1 School Sites August 21 and 22, 2026Attend DMIS Alumni School Workshop all day September 11, 2026Weekly commitment one afternoon a week (M-Th) at a partner school from September 2026 - March 2027Attend DMIS Student Share at ASU Gammage from 2:30pm to 7:30pm on March 4, 2027Knowledge and Skills DesiredAbility to collaborate and remain flexible and positive with other professional artistsStrong skills and experience in a combination of teaching, directing, choreographing, stage management, and/or music directionExperience in teaching students in class or camp settings (musical theatre/music)Experience in participating or working on a play or musical with studentsStrong leadership or group management skillsStrong time-management skills; being punctual and reliableDemonstrate a strong commitment to student inclusionDemonstrate respect for all students, teachers, teaching artists, and administrators participating in the program, and offer a superior level of professionalism, customer service, and positivityValid US Class D driver’s license with reliable transportation to and from partner schools located in the metro Phoenix areaAbility to obtain, at our expense, a fingerprint clearance cardProficient in public speaking.Strong written and oral communication skills.Working EnvironmentFrequent pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25lbs.Frequent standing for long periods of time.Drive on university business and possess a valid US driver license upon employment.Wage$30.00 per hourASU Cultural Affairs is comprised of three units - ASU Gammage, ASU 365 Community Union and ASU Kerr.
