Complex and/or high priority problems are elevated to specialized support groups for resolution when needed, but the HelpDesk Technician is responsible to ensure that the user receives an effective solution. .MAJOR DUTIES:· Effectively, professionally, and respectfully represents other I.T. members, teams, and their services to the client community.· Provides support for all Information Technology products and services. Support may include answering questions, troubleshooting problems, teaching or instructing customers regarding software or hardware functionality, and communicating policy. Additionally, it may involve troubleshooting printer or projector issues and resolving difficulties with other Classroom Technology. Support may be done by using remote support utilities, verbally over the phone, or by conducting in-person service calls.· Determines the most effective manner to resolve customer's technical issue. Engages in research and in-depth troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.· Responsible for LAN troubleshooting;· Responsible for the installation and termination of Ethernet cable.· Records required customer and problem information in LTC HelpDesk. Updates tickets with appropriate journal entries of activities, and closes tickets with resolution entered upon completion of the job.· Resolves Level 1 and 2 work orders. Elevates complex and/or high priority problems to the Technology Support Supervisor.· Verifies that suggested solutions effectively resolve the users' problems through verbal or email follow up.· Works on Information Technology related projects as assigned by supervisor.· Assists in maintaining IT Department inventory, including additions, transfer, and surplus of Equipment.· Install, upgrades, and troubleshoots software as needed.· Instructs customers in correct policy and procedures, special requirements, restrictions, and supporting documentation needed to complete relevant process.· Other work-related duties as required by supervisor.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A high school diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year of work-related experienceCOMPETENCIES:Basic knowledge of computer and network hardware, operating systems (Windows, Chrome and MAC OS), and presentation software: i.e. PowerPoint;Skill in providing excellent customer service;Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs - MS Office, Image Editing, file management;Effective decision making and problem-solving skills;Effective oral and written communication skills;Ability to perform physical requirements of position, as listed below;Knowledge of application software and network infrastructure;Knowledge of information security practices and technology;Knowledge of the acquisition and deployment of computer software applications and technology hardware;Knowledge of the tools and techniques used in the diagnosis and resolution of computer software and hardware operating problems;Knowledge of and techniques used in hard drive cloning software, such as FOG.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, climbing (including working from ladders), lifting light and heavy objects (up to 30 lbs.), and using tools and equipment that require finger and hand dexterity.
