Transylvania County EMS is actively seeking two full‑time Paramedic positions to serve the residents of Transylvania County, North Carolina. Compensation Starting salary will be determined by Transylvania County Human Resources based on experience and education submitted with your application. Operate county ambulances safely and efficiently. Administer advanced life‑support care, including airway management, intravenous therapy, drug administration, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, and electrocardiogram interpretation. Assess victims’ conditions and provide appropriate treatment en route. Complete documentation on calls and maintain accurate records. Transport patients to medical facilities and perform routine or inter‑facility/palliative transport. Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on apparatus and equipment; assist in cleaning station and grounds. Participate in continuing education to maintain certification hours. Perform other related duties as assigned, including public‑relations functions and standby service for special events. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Current North Carolina Paramedic credential. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and emergency care principles. Ability to assess and treat patients, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with the public and other agencies. Strong interpersonal skills for working with physicians, patients, and families. Required Licenses or Certifications BCLS ACLS PHTLS/ITLS Provider Certifications Instructor certifications preferred NCOEMS Paramedic credential NIMS IRC 100, 200, 700, and 800 Certifications CEVO Certification HazMat Level I Responder Certification Valid North Carolina Driver’s License Successful completion of SBI background check with required fingerprinting by Sheriff Office Successful completion of Transylvania County standard background check Successful drug screening Physical Requirements & Work Environment Work requires frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting over 100 pounds, standing, walking, climbing, and exposure to outdoor weather, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, and high places.
