Non Emergency Medical Transport Driver

Job Title: Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver. Location: Danville, VA Job Type: Full-Time. Reports To: Transportation Manager/Supervisor. Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and safety-focused Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver to join our team. The NEMT Driver will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, treatment centers, and other health-related destinations. This role is crucial in helping clients maintain access to essential healthcare services. Key Responsibilities Safely transport clients to and from medical appointments in a timely and courteous manner. Assist passengers in and out of the vehicle when necessary, including those with mobility challenges or in wheelchairs. Maintain a clean, well-maintained, and properly fueled vehicle at all times. Use GPS or route mapping tools to ensure efficient travel. Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Accurately complete trip logs, mileage records, and other documentation as required. Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle issues promptly to management. Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, caregivers, dispatch, and healthcare personnel. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines at all times. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Previous experience in transportation, caregiving, or customer service preferred. Ability to lift and assist clients when necessary. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must pass background check and drug screening. Working Conditions Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends if needed. Work is performed in a vehicle and various indoor/outdoor environments. May involve lifting, bending, and assisting clients with limited mobility. Benefits Competitive hourly wage.
