Store Leader

Job Description

A large grocery retailer is seeking Store Leaders in the greater Indianapolis, IN area to oversee overall store operations, drive financial performance, and develop high-performing leadership teams. These positions are part of a strategic price-lowering initiative and will be responsible for leading stores through Assistant Store Leaders (ASLs) and department leadership teams.

The Store Leader serves as the top operational leader within the store and is responsible for driving results across people, operations, merchandising, customer experience, and financial performance. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, an ownership mentality, and the ability to coach and develop leaders across multiple functional areas. Additional responsibilities include the following:

• Lead overall store operations and customer experience

• Manage store profitability, labor, shrink, and sales performance

• Develop and coach Assistant Store Leaders and department leaders

• Execute merchandising and operational initiatives

• Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and company standards

• Build strong associate engagement and retention

• Drive execution of company initiatives and strategic priorities

Skills and Requirements

3-5+ years of retail leadership experience

Experience managing managers or multi-layer leadership teams

Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop leaders

Strong operational and financial acumen

Experience owning business results, labor, and profitability metrics

Ability to work a retail leadership schedule (typically 50-60 hours/week) Grocery retail leadership experience

High-volume retail leadership experience

Experience leading through Assistant Store Leaders and department managers

Bachelor's Degree

Experience with budgeting, labor management, and financial accountability
