Direct Counsel is seeking a mid- to senior-level Associate Attorney to join a growing Private Client practice in New York City. This opportunity involves sophisticated estate planning, elder law, estate and trust administration, estate litigation, and transfer tax matters for high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, nonprofit organizations, and closely held businesses.

The attorney will collaborate with colleagues across offices and play an integral role in a team-oriented practice committed to providing exceptional client service.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in estate planning, preferably with an emphasis on transfer tax planning for high-net-worth individuals
• Experience with trust and estate administration, including probate proceedings, trust administration, and gift and estate tax returns
• Ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision
• Strong academic credentials
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admission to the New York Bar, or eligibility to waive into the New York Bar promptly after hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience advising clients on elder law matters, including long-term care planning, Medicaid planning, guardianships, and special needs planning
• Experience with trust and estate litigation
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar and in good standing

Compensation & Work Arrangement

The anticipated annual salary range is $280,000$335,000, with actual compensation based on relevant skills, experience, training, location, and other applicable factors. The position also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including productivity and discretionary bonuses, insurance coverage, and a 401(k) plan.

Attorneys are expected to work from the office three days per week, with flexibility supporting collaboration, client service, and work-life balance.
