Job Summary

JOB TITLE: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Driver's License
• State Bus Driver's License
• Such additional health, age, or other requirements the Leeds City Schools Board of Education may deem appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal's Designee

JOB GOAL: To provide safe, efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest advantage from the district's program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Keeps assigned bus clean.
• Keeps assigned schedule.
• Checks bus for mechanical defects before each operation.
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or tardiness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
• Completes required training programs satisfactorily.
• Maintains good public relations, especially with patrons on route.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As determined by the Leeds City Schools Board of Education (183 days)

EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
