Scholars Unlimited is seeking dynamic, compassionate Psychology students to join our growing team and support the emotional well-being of elementary-age youth in our after-school programs. This position provides hands-on experience in a school-based setting and is ideal for graduate students pursuing a degree in psychology (ED.S, PhD, PsyD).

Staff will support two Denver school sites and work under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist. This role includes providing group SEL, delivering psychoeducational support, and building strong relationships with young people, families, and after-school staff.

The Scholars Unlimited Program will be from September 2026 - May 2027 (with potential for summer extension). The program will be held in our partner schools in Northeast Denver, Southwest Denver, Central Denver, North Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster. Hours of the program will vary with the school's dismissal bell times. Typically, the hours may start as early as 1:15 pm and go as late as 6:00 pm. This position requires a commitment of 10-20 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility based on availability and project needs.

Essential Functions:

• Provide individual and small-group therapeutic support to elementary-aged scholars experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
• Deliver psychoeducation to students around self-regulation, coping skills, identity, and peer relationships.
• Participate in classroom observations and collaborate with site staff to identify youth who may benefit from mental health support.
• Build rapport with children in a culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate manner.
• Maintain open and respectful communication with families regarding student needs and support plans.
• Document all services provided and participate in regular reflective supervision and training sessions.

What You Will Gain:

• For Doctoral Psychology Students (PhD/PsyD)
  • Face-to-face intervention hours with elementary-age children in a community-based afterschool setting, with presenting concerns spanning emotional dysregulation, behavioral challenges, social skills deficits, and trauma response. Intervention modalities include structured SEL delivery, psychoeducational group facilitation, coping skills coaching, and family consultation, all of which map to AAPI intervention categories. Individual and group supervision with a licensed psychologist. This role offers concentrated direct service hours in a community-embedded context.
• For School Psychology Graduate Students (Ed.S)
  • Direct intervention and consultative experience consistent with NASP Practice Model domains, including Student-Level Services (Domain 2) through evidence-informed SEL delivery, psychoeducational support, and coping skills intervention with elementary-age children. Collaborative experience working alongside program staff to identify and support youth with social, emotional, and behavioral needs, and family engagement consistent with NASP preventive and responsive services. Individual and group supervision with a licensed psychologist.
• Of note: for students with interest in nonprofits or program development, this setting offers additional exposure to community-based program design and implementation

Benefits

• This is a seasonal part-time position and is not eligible for benefits such as paid time off (PTO), health insurance, or participation in the retirement plan.
• Eligible for overtime as defined by the Colorado Overtime & Minimum Pay Standards Order
• In accordance with the Healthy Families Workplace Act, employers must provide at least 1 hour of accrued, paid sick leave per 30 hours of work, up to 48 hours per year. Paid sick leave will begin accruing upon hire date.
• Up to 7 paid holidays (between September 2026 - May 2027), paid scheduled school breaks (1 week for winter break and 1 week for spring break), and paid inclement weather days (as deemed by school district closure policies).

Work Schedule:

• This is an in-person position. This position is expected to report to the Central Office in the morning and may be required to report on site(s) in the afternoon.
• Part-time position, 10-20 hours per week (2-3 days per week), with hours scheduled between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Compensation:

• Hourly Stipend is $23.00

Education

• Currently enrolled in a graduate-level psychology program (Ed.S, PhD, PsyD.) with a clinical focus.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A graduate-level program student pursuing a degree in psychology.
• Must complete and pass criminal history background checks prior to the start of employment
