Backend Engineer, Crypto [Remote]

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Engineer, Crypto based in the United States.

This role focuses on building the backend infrastructure that powers secure, scalable, and high-performance crypto financial services within a modern fintech platform.
You will design and develop systems that enable customers to buy, hold, and manage digital assets as part of an integrated financial ecosystem.
The position involves working on high-volume transaction systems where reliability, security, and performance are critical.
You will contribute to the design of APIs and event-driven architectures that support real-time financial and crypto operations.
A key part of the role includes ensuring system scalability and observability in collaboration with infrastructure and platform teams.
You will help define engineering best practices, tooling, and system standards that improve reliability across services.
This is a fast-paced, high-ownership environment where your work directly impacts financial products used at scale.

Accountabilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that support crypto trading, custody, and transaction workflows.
• Develop secure and scalable APIs and event-driven systems for high-volume financial operations.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance in collaboration with platform and infrastructure teams.
• Work on distributed systems that support real-time processing of digital asset transactions.
• Implement best practices for observability, including monitoring, logging, and system alerting.
• Contribute to architecture decisions for microservices and cloud-native systems running on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end crypto features.
• Participate in improving documentation, tooling, and engineering standards across backend systems.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of backend engineering or distributed systems experience in production environments.
• Experience building scalable APIs and financial-grade backend systems.
• Familiarity with crypto systems, including L2 blockchains or digital asset infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js or similar backend technologies (TypeScript, Java, Go, or NestJS).
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, including AWS and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of microservices, event-driven systems, and system design principles.
• Experience working in high-scale, production-critical environments with strong reliability requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across product and engineering teams.
• Strong ownership mindset with a bias toward execution and delivery.
