We are currently seeking experienced, compassionate, and dependable Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) for a long-term healthcare assignment in Brenham , TX . Candidates must have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), psychiatric/behavioral health needs, and dual diagnoses . This position requires nurses who can adapt quickly to changing situations, learn new processes efficiently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Available Shifts

• 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM
• 1:45 PM – 10:15 PM
• 9:45 PM - 6:15 AM

Assignment Length: 6-month minimum contract with the opportunity to extend.

What You'll Do

As an LVN, you'll play a vital role in delivering quality nursing care while supporting the health, safety, and well-being of patients. Responsibilities include:

• Provide routine and emergency nursing care in accordance with physician orders and individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments through various routes while following established protocols.
• Monitor patients' health status, including vital signs, dietary intake, and overall condition.
• Collaborate with Registered Nurses, physicians, APRNs, physician assistants, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Accurately document treatments, observations, and nursing interventions in medical records.
• Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and assist with emergency care when needed.
• Collect laboratory specimens and perform designated screening procedures.
• Educate care staff on post-treatment care and monitoring procedures.
• Maintain infection control standards and follow all facility safety policies.
• Ensure medical supplies and equipment are stocked and ready for use.
• Comply with all facility procedures and Joint Commission Standards .

Qualifications

• Active Texas Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license (or Compact License recognized by the Nurse Licensure Compact)
• Current CPR Certification
• Valid government-issued photo identification
• Minimum 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience
• Previous nursing experience working with individuals with  intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
• Experience working with  psychiatric/behavioral health populations and individuals with dual diagnoses

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong knowledge of nursing procedures, patient care, and clinical best practices
• Experience administering medications and documenting care accurately
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
• Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergency situations
