Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity surgical services team at a Level I Trauma & Burn Center. This role requires strong OR experience in both scrub and circulating functions, with exposure to trauma and complex surgical cases.

This is a fast-paced, high-acuity OR environment supporting inpatient, outpatient, and critical care surgical procedures.

Schedule

• 4x10-hour night shifts (scheduled between 19:00–07:00)
• Weekend coverage as required
• Call requirement: average of 5 or fewer call days per 8-week period
• Night shift orientation conducted on day shift (must be available full week)
• 13-week contract assignment

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases
• Function as scrub and/or circulating nurse in surgical procedures
• Support surgical teams across multiple specialties including trauma, ortho, neuro, ENT, urology, robotics, and general surgery
• Maintain patient safety, sterile technique, and OR protocols
• Coordinate care with surgical, anesthesia, and ancillary teams
• Document all perioperative care using Epic EMR

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
• Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma OR strongly required
• Proficiency in scrub and circulating roles
• Strong clinical experience in complex surgical environments
• Experience in a teaching hospital preferred

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must meet Missouri licensure eligibility or hold MO RN license)
• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• Core Mandatory Training:
  • Core Mandatory Part I
  • Core Mandatory Part II (Nursing)
  • Core Mandatory Part III
• Core Mandatory Exam – Nursing
• RN Pharmacology Assessment

Preferred Skills

• Level I Trauma OR experience
• Robotics experience (Da Vinci systems)
• High-acuity inpatient OR exposure
• Strong adaptability in fast-paced surgical environments

Unit & Facility Details

• Main OR with multiple specialties (22 OR beds, ASC 8, Ortho 10)
• Patient acuity ranges from outpatient to critical care
• Equipment includes Da Vinci robotic systems
• EMR: Epic
• Scrubs provided by facility

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination required (November–April; exemptions reviewed by facility)
• No blocked scheduling requests
• Must be available for full orientation week on day shift
• Highly structured OR environment with strong interdisciplinary support
