Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Operating Room PRN

Job Description Summary The primary function of this position is as the scrub person, surgeon assistant, and the assistant circulator for all newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient procedures completed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities Preparing sterile operating rooms for surgeries. Sterilizing equipment and instruments. Stocking adequate supplies for surgery. Preparing patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting incision sites. Providing support during surgery by passing instruments and other supplies. Tracking surgical supplies. Staying up-to-date on surgical technology, medical terminology, and procedures. Working well with surgeons, surgical assistants, nurses and general surgical team. Helping provide great patient care. Qualifications Strong understanding of surgical technology and surgical procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology. Passionate about patient care. Graduate of a Technical College, or equivalent, with accredited Surgical Technologist curricula. Surgical Technologist Certification required after 2008. Basic Life Support (BLS) with American Heart Association (AHA). Schedule (PRN) This is a PRN as-needed position. Must be available to work at least one full shift bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the unit.
