On the Trail of the Ancients... The Community Crownpoint, NM Crownpoint is on the Trails of the Ancients Byway, one of the designated New Mexico Scenic Byways to prehistoric archaeological and geological sites of northwestern New Mexico. It provides insight into the lives of the Ancient Puebloans, Navajos, Utes, and Apache people. Geological features include canyons, volcanic rock features, and sandstone buttes. Several of the sites are scenic and wilderness areas with recreational opportunities. In 1912, Crownpoint was founded by Samuel F. Stacher as an Indian Agency to serve the Navajo People in the Pueblo Bonito Agency of Northwestern New Mexico. About the Facility Crownpoint Health Care Facility The Crownpoint Health Care Facility serves a population of 20,000 Navajo people. The staff consists of primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at a 32-bed hospital. The daily inpatient load is nine; daily outpatient visits are 151; annual OB cases are 275; and annual ER cases number about 5,500.

Responsibilities

• The RN ER initiates and manages the nursing process for admitted patients.
• Deliver nursing care, including patient education, based on the nursing process.
• Prioritize nursing care according to patient needs and clinical settings.
• Execute and monitor medical orders from physicians, including administering medications, oxygen, and treatments.
• Operate and manage therapeutic devices such as drainage, feeding, and suction tubes, as well as respiratory and electrocardiograph machines.
• Measure and assess vital signs, neurological status, and other health indicators.
• The RN ER provides direct patient care, including assistance with daily living activities and ambulation.
• Document patient care, changes in condition, and other unit activities.
• Recognize life-threatening emergencies and initiate resuscitation measures and other emergency procedures.
• Identify adverse reactions to medications and treatments, and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Perform quality control checks for crash carts, lab equipment, and other medical devices.
• Assist in the collection of specimens, including blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Serve as a member of the healthcare team for after-hours and emergency situations.
• The RN ER provides comprehensive nursing care specific to the age and condition of patients, ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.

Requirements

• Education: Must have a minimum of an Associate of Science in Nursing degree.
• Experience: Must have a minimum of two (2) years of ER experience.
• Certification: Must have an ACLS. BLS and PALS through either the American Heart Association or the client is required. NRP/TNCC/CEN certification is preferred but not required.
• License: Shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted physician license in the state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
