Job Description FLSA Category: Exempt Date Issued: October 2016 Revised: July 2023 Job Summary The Family Medicine Physician at Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS) provides direct patient care, conducts consultations, and serves a panel of patients at GBMS. This role requires robust adult patient care experience. The Physician operates within a team-based model, collaborates with members of the healthcare team, and coordinates referrals and care management with internal staff and external agencies. Responsibilities include timely follow‑up of specialty referrals, ensuring compliance with quality care measures, and prioritizing the achievement of GBMS quality metrics. Essential Functions Provide comprehensive physical assessments and evaluate patient outcomes. Prescribe or recommend treatments including pharmaceuticals, physical therapy, inhalation therapy, and related procedures. Conduct age‑appropriate risk and developmental assessments. Participate in performance and quality improvement activities. Advocate for and order immunizations based on ACIP/CDC guidelines. Arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services and coordinate with specialists. Establish diagnoses for common short‑term and chronic conditions. Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. Prescribe and perform therapeutic and corrective measures. Provide same‑day care when required. Refer patients to appropriate licensed providers or specialist resources. Document clinical care promptly, maintaining patient charts per clinic protocols. Comply with regulatory and insurance requirements for consultations and services. Adhere to Joint Commission standards for ambulatory care. Follow Patient‑Centered Medical Home standards. Enter data into the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner. Complete chart documentation in accordance with company policy. Meet training and risk management program requirements. Nonessential Functions Provide clinical leadership and serve as a resource to other team members. Offer supervision and support to nurse practitioners and other clinicians. Assist the center manager in facilitating smooth clinic flow. Support compliance reviews. Submit timely credentialing information. Assist Safety Officer with employee health activities during exposure events. Participate in team meetings, in‑service sessions, and workshops. Perform additional duties to support optimal patient care. Supervisory Responsibility CMAs, fellows, students, interns and similar personnel, if applicable. Managerial Responsibilities None Minimum Qualifications Current Maryland medical license. Current Maryland prescriber number; D.E.A. and C.D.S. license. DO license accepted as an alternative. Board certification or eligibility in family medicine/primary care; preferred within one year of employment. Malpractice insurability. Current CPR certification. ACLS or Advanced Life Support within 12 months, if appropriate. Handle frequent interruptions and adapt priorities swiftly. Interact appropriately with colleagues across contexts. Demonstrate sound perception, spatial judgment, and decision-making skills.
