Position Summary The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer is responsible for supporting instrumentation and controls design activities for EPC and industrial projects. This role includes development of wiring and loop diagrams, Smart P&IDs, instrument installation details, control panel layouts, and control system design documentation. Responsibilities Develop wiring and loop diagrams Prepare standard and Smart P&IDs Create instrument installation details and instrument location plans Support control panel and junction box sizing and layout Support control system design and networking documentation Utilize SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) databases for: Instrument index loading Instrument datasheet creation Wiring information development Report and loop generation Perform instrument material take–offs (MTOs) Develop and maintain CAD drawings and models related to instrumentation and controls systems Requirements Bachelor's Degree Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors Job–related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs Disclaimer This job description indicates, in general, the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act) expected of an incumbent.
