You will serve as a Sheet Metal Worker (Aircraft) in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

Help

• You will interpret and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals to guide repair and installation work.
• You will operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machines (e.g., shears, drills, grinders) with proficiency.
• You will provide on-the-job training to lower level employees and assist with troubleshooting more complex tasks.
• You will maintain inventory of sheet metal parts, supplies, and materials while ensuring work meets safety standards and quality control procedures.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SUPPORT SERVICES:

(1) Removing, installing, modifying, and repairing sheet metal components on various aircraft types and systems; (2) Interpreting and applying technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals to guide repair and installation work; (3) Performing precision sheet metal forming, fabrication, and welding techniques to repair or fabricate parts; (4) Diagnosing and identifying issues in sheet metal structures and conducting routine maintenance inspections and repairs on aircraft systems; and (5) Operating a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machines (e.g., shears, drills, grinders) with proficiency, as well as maintaining inventory of sheet metal parts, supplies, and materials. I am considered an expert or I am consulted by other employees in difficult situations.

Additional information

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
