Summary
We are seeking a mechanically inclined Plastics Processing Technician/Equipment Operator to support research, development, and pilot-scale manufacturing. This role involves operating plastics processing equipment, preparing materials, assisting with experimental trials, recording process data, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting machinery, and collaborating with engineers to develop new materials and processes.
Responsibilities
Operate extrusion, compounding, and other plastics processing equipment.
Set up machinery, load materials, and monitor processing conditions.
Assist with development trials, sample preparation, and material testing.
Record process settings, material usage, and production data.
Perform routine equipment cleaning, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate concerns to engineering or maintenance.
Manage raw materials, supplies, and inventory.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures, including required PPE.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED. Associate degree or technical certification in Plastics or Manufacturing related field
Mechanical aptitude and experience operating manufacturing or industrial equipment.
Ability to follow written instructions and accurately document information.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Ability to lift to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
Ability to work safely around machinery and high-temperature equipment.
Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Experience with plastics processing, extrusion, injection molding, machine maintenance, or material handling. Technical training or certification in manufacturing, plastics technology, or a related field is a plus.
